My wife’s family has had a lot of trouble with Escapes in the … past so it wasn’t in consideration from the beginning. However, one caught our eye on the road and we decided to look into it. We were pretty set on the RAV4 Hybrid and didn’t even think about an Escape. Eventually, we were able to test drive a CX-5, CR-V, and a RAV4 Hybrid. My wife and I were looking for our first SUV during one of the most frustrating times to buy a vehicle. Automated parking system (steers into a parking spot with no driver intervention).Head-up display (displays important information in your sight line onto the windshield). There are a few options for the Titanium, including: Technology package (minus the charging pad and B&O audio system).Parking sensors (alert you to obstacles that may not be visible behind the vehicle when parking)Ī number of packages are also available for the SEL, including:Īdds to the SEL's healthy list of features with:.Evasive steering assist (enhances the forward collision mitigation system with steering-based collision avoidance)īuilds on the SE's standard equipment with:.Lane keeping system (makes minor steering corrections to help keep the vehicle centered in its lane).Adaptive cruise control (adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the Escape and the car in front).Lane departure mitigation (warns you of a lane departure when a turn signal isn't used and can automatically steer to maintain lane position).Blind-spot monitor (alerts you if a vehicle in the next lane over is in your blind spot).Forward collision mitigation (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios).Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibilityĮvery Escape also comes with these safety features:. I highly recommend this car.The entry-level Escape Hybrid comes with: I would only shop and compare this vehicle against the Mazda CX-5 and they are practically the same vehicle. I've tested this car against the new RAV4 and there is no comparison, the Escape is hands down the better, faster and more composed vehicle. The vehicle is FUN to drive and I often find excuses to take it out on the road just to have fun driving it. It is a transmission that needs to be driven and worn in. Do NOT judge this vehicle new within it's first 1,700 miles. Many reviews criticize this vehicle for having a strange transmission behavior or saying it's not fun to drive.WRONG. It doesn't feel like a confusing Star Wars spaceship cockpit like a lot of these modern vehicles. The interior is basic in a good way and user friendly with technology that is easy to use. If you closed your eyes, you'd think you were driving an Audi or a 4cyl Macan or something. Honestly, it doesn't even feel like a crossover, it feels more car like when compared to the previous generation Escape. I have no issues passing anyone or getting up to speed quickly. The SUV is absurdly fast for what it is, smooth and handles like a dream. The gears have to be worn in, the computer has to learn driving behaviors and things will tend to smooth out over time. It turns out that this car has legitimate break in period of about 2,000 miles. I even looked it up and thought it was a DCT transmission, … because that's what it initially felt like. Some days it would perform flawlessly and other days the transmission would gear hunt, shift hard, throw in an odd shift or shift too slowly. I've had this vehicle for a while now and I'll be honest, when I first got it.I thought that that the 8-speed transmission was a little strange and the vehicle had uneven performance.
